Prudent Financial Management is key for any district. Unfortunately, the Francis Howell School District has had a bumpy history over the past 30 years. I can remember growing up in the district and at one point, if I remember correctly, there was a miscounting of kindergarteners resulting of millions of dollars that had to be repaid. The trust between the district and the community was broken, and FHSD worked for years to rebuild that relationship.
The district is now in this same place with the way Prop S was managed, that has contributed to significant cost overruns and the inability to build needed elementary room classes. The proper safeguards must be put in place to prevent this from continuing.
Creating dependable budgets, providing useful financial planning, and implementing functional preventative maintenance should be the backbone of the district moving forward. When elected I will push to strengthen each of these.
